Lilja Níelsdóttir

Lilja provides general clinical psychotherapy, such as for anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents and adults.

Lilja also has experience working with individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder, behavioral problems, non-specific and specific learning difficulties (eg dyslexia), self-harm, relationship disorders, language developmental disorders, hearing impairment, developmental disabilities, Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorders. Lilja provides family counseling, for example counseling for children's behavioral problems and counseling for parents and siblings of children with developmental disabilities. Lilja also undertakes couple counseling and counseling for stepfamilies.

Education and jobs
Lilja studied at Reykjavík University and graduated with both a B.Sc. in Psychology M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology. Among other things, she has worked as a special education director at the Bæjarból kindergarten and as a behavioral counselor at the Reykjanesbær Education Department.

In her master's studies, Lilja worked at the Mosfellsbær School Office with psychological diagnoses, counseling at pre-school and primary school level and treatment interviews, Heilsugæslan Sólvangur in an individual and a group of treatment work with children and adolescents and at Reykjalundur Rehabilitation Center, both in the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Department treatment work. Lilja worked on a research project for a master's degree in connection with her work at the Obitus Department at Reykjalundur Rehabilitation Center. Lilja did a research project for a B.Sc. degree in collaboration with MentisCura, but the project was about examining the statistical significance of the analysis of the importance of ADHD symptoms with a brain graph.

Lilja has the right to supervise upbringing courses at the Center for Development and Behavior, Upbringing that works - skills for the future, both parenting courses and preschool courses.
